"First time cleaning an aircraft?"

The beginning of our aircraft cabin cleaning journey.

2024 - 05 - 13

Hello.

I’m Seobi, TM at BESTTURN’s Safety X team. 😅

Q. Can you tell us how your journey at BESTTURN began?

I joined BESTTURN on March 11, 2024, and just about a month later—we kicked off our first operation. That whole month, I was completely focused on getting ready. I really wanted to build a process that felt different from other cabin cleaning companies. I kept asking myself, “How can we clean the seats, floors, and lavatories both thoroughly and quickly?”

I kept researching, testing, and tweaking. Honestly, I just wanted people at Incheon Airport to say, “That team from BESTTURN? They’re the best.”🧹

We carefully selected every single item—cleaning tools, detergents, supplies. Since we were dealing with aircraft, there were a lot of restrictions. You can’t just use any product onboard.

So I started looking into what Boeing and Airbus use, and that’s how I found out about Ki-Kleen—it turned out to be one of the best options out there. We even invited the Ki-Kleen manager to our office to walk us through how to use it properly.

At that point, I thought—yep, we’re totally ready. 👍

You know what’s cool? BESTTURN has its own Aircraft Cleaning Lab.

We even have a mock-up cabin that looks just like the inside of a real aircraft. So, a week before our first official operation, we ran a full-on rehearsal. Our CEO? He played the “bad guy” 😂—throwing trash all over the seats and floor while the team cleaned it up. It really felt like the real thing.

It wasn’t easy at first, but little by little, we got the hang of it. Things started to feel more natural.

But…ㅜㅜ

(this is kind of off the record, haha)

None of us on the team had actual cabin cleaning experience.

Sure, we had people who worked in ground handling before, but no one had actually cleaned the inside of a plane.

In our heads, we felt totally prepared—but when it came time to step into the real thing? Yeah… it wasn’t as easy as we thought.

Q. What was it like cleaning the inside of an aircraft?

Hmm… our very first cleaning? I was so nervous, honestly. I can’t even remember how I got through it—I think I was just running on adrenaline.

What I do remember is all of us piling into a Carnival van, heading to the airport, waiting in front of the gate… then stepping into the aircraft, doing the cleaning, and somehow finishing it all in 20 minutes. 😂

From what I heard through our CEO, the client was really satisfied—especially for a first-time operation! 😄

We even got feedback thanking us for how clean everything was—the seats, the floors, the lavatories, and the galley.

It felt incredibly rewarding. After more than a month of prep, it was like seeing our hard work finally pay off.

Q. Any final thoughts?

“I was nervous, but honestly—it wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be.”

I think it felt manageable because I had studied my part of the manual well, and we really operated as one team—supporting each other and working with care.

On the way back, there was this unspoken sense of teamwork and connection between us. That part felt really good.

We’ve only just taken the first step,

and I’m excited for everything that lies ahead.
